My understanding is that was vetted and she was following instructions of her superior officer, Jose Rodriguez, and so I certainly don't see how that would disqualify her from this job.

Well, I am glad he is considering retaliatory action. Because White House officials have seen that red lines that go unenforced just encourage further provocative action by Assad, so it is unconventional, to be sure. I support the constitutional carry, because I view it kind of like a driver’s license, but I think it’s a mistake to try to combine this with the fix NICS background check. We have good bipartisan support for that. … But if we start trying to add other things to it, then I think we risk not doing anything which has sort of been the fate of a lot of the legislation we’ve tried in the past. So, I’d like to do the fix NICS, and then we can move on from there.

The only way that happens is when we are forced to govern by consensus. That is, build sufficient votes in order to have some stability and durability of the laws we pass. Things like Medicare and Social Security, those were controversial in their day, but there was bipartisan consensus that supported them and that's why they remain today.

It is required, it also makes good sense before we commit our military and our men and women in uniform to any sort of conflict. They deserve the support of Congress on a bipartisan basis.

Judge Gorsuch will be confirmed this week one way or another, i hope the Democrats will provide the 60 votes and we don't have to worry about the change of rules.

I think that's the lesson of last week, that needs to be done on a bipartisan basis so we're happy to work on it with Democrats if we can find any who are willing to do so rather than those who just want to stand back and enjoy the show.
