Despite his prior glitzy image, Trump started becoming a demagogue when he started trying to lead a 'silent majority' of furious, mostly white, lower- and middle-class voters, and he really crossed the line when he started doubling down on deceits like the lie about 'thousands' of people celebrating 9/11 in Jersey City, countenancing violence, demonizing large swaths of people, and now, casting aside the freedom of religion for Muslims.
