I had two messages. One, voter suppression is real and we have to have a plan to fight back. Two, Georgia is real. You've got to have a plan to fight here, we were very privileged to know that by the time Joe Biden won the nomination, Joe Biden had Georgia on Joe Biden mind.

As a young black woman, growing up in Mississippi, I learned that if you don't raise your hand, people won't see you, and they won't give you attention, but it's not about attention for being the running mate, it is about making sure that my qualifications aren't in question, because they're not just speaking to me, they're speaking to young black women, young women of color, young people of color, who wonder if they too can be seen.

From the beginning of this catastrophe, Governor Kemp has demonstrated that Governor Kemp has absolutely no competency in this process.

I would share your concern about not picking a woman of color, because women of color -- particularly Black women -- are the strongest part of the Democratic Party, Democratic Party, but that loyalty isn't simply how we vote, it's how we work, and if we want to signal that that work will continue, that we're going to reach not just to certain segments of our community, but to the entire country, then we need a ticket that reflects the diversity of America.

Voter suppression is no longer billy clubs Jim Crow. It's closed polling sites + 6 hr waits w/o pay. COVID is no excuse, who needs to vote in person ? The disabled. The homeless or displaced. Voters w/language barriers. Folks who didn't get their ballots in time. Americans.

They knew that he was impaired because he had parked in that driveway, and they knew when he ran away that he did not pose a danger that was a deadly force incentive.

For me it was déjà vu. I am very aware of the frailty and the fallacy of the notion of acts of democracy in Georgia, we watched the secretary of state in 2018 set up a system of voter suppression and we watched the current secretary of state continue the same work. The reality is this was a mix of incompetence, malfeasance. It was a deliberate indifference to voters and it's a solvable problem.

I tried to steam it open because I watched a lot of' Perry Mason.' It didn't work, and so I had to go vote in person.

There will be legitimate fears about using absentee ballots, we have to use every tool in the toolbox.

We're not ready to return to normal.

The worry is that while trying to push a false opening of the economy, we risk putting more lives in danger, and there's nothing about this that makes sense.

The most economically vulnerable are struggling to survive, unable to afford groceries or medicines for their children, let alone cover utilities, car payments, and rent.

I know that my résumé... is usually reduced to' She didn't become the governor of Georgia.' But it is important to understand all the things I did to prepare for that contest, that campaign was not a whim. It was the outcome of decades of deliberate work building my capacity to serve as many people as I could, in the most effective way possible.

I think this is the right time. Look, I think it was important that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders have the time Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders needed and the space Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders needed to make the decision about what Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was going to do with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders campaign and now Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has endorsed, President Barack Obama has endorsed, and I was very, very glad to do it today.
