When I was growing up in India, I was taught that if you are gifted with special talents, you don't own them. Those talents aren't yours, because they come to you straight from God. I was further advised to use those God-gifted talents for advancing society, by helping people who're in dire need. It's one of the most powerful teachings that I've inherited from my childhood in India. It constantly reminds me that Life is a give-and-take process; and that the more you give back to society, the more you'll receive from God. This interesting philosophy of life instills humility, and keeps my feet firmly on the ground; no matter which country or continent I live in. I had worked at the University of St. Andrews, over 25 years ago during 1985-88, as an academic staff and a research fellow at the Department of Chemistry. Those were the most wonderful and highly productive three and half years of my life. I was fortunate to work in association with one of the genius Scientists in the UK (Professor David Cole-Hamilton) at the most beautiful place in the world, St. Andrews. My research work had led to various patents and publications, creating a notable mark of distinction that stll makes me extremely proud. It can be shown mathematically that only attitude will enable you to reach 100% towards your goal, the finish line where everything else, including skills or knowledge or hard work, cannot reach. If you assign the numbers to the letters A to Z as 1 to 26 respectively, and then add the corresponding numbers for the spellings of each word, you will get 63% for skill, 82% for skills, 96% for knowledge, 98% for hard work, and exact 100% for attitude. Math is really beautiful here, in my view, for it elucidates and illuminates the fact that good attitude can empower you reach your goals 100%.

Smartphone is a classic example of disruptive innovation that has quickly disrupted not only the existing markets and value networks, but also our society and her values - by creating millions of Selfie-obsessed narcissistic individuals worldwide. Whether it's good or bad, Selfie-obsession has certainly become epidemic, and no one is immune. Social media, such as FB, Twitter, Instagram etc are totally flooded with selfies of self-obsessed folks from all walks of life, all strata of society, rich and poor, beautiful as well as beauty-challenged, celebrities as much as obscurities, and people of all colors, genders, races, religions and ethnicities etc. While 'Selfies’ may have become a huge trend in social media, many psychiatrists associate the Selfie-obsession to serious mental health issue called "Body Dysmorphic Disorder" that involves dysfunctional narcissism and person’s obsession with her/his looks. Some people believe that Silence is golden, and that Silence speaks a million words. In my view, it's not true. Silence often represents the remnants of your fears, flaws and insecurities. Silence signifies your inability and impotency to respond to reality. The saddest sounds of silence were heard loud and clear in the deepest darkness that followed Nazi Genocides, 9/11, Tsunami and Katrina. Silence isn't golden at all, and it surely comes back to haunt you. Stay away from Silence, and always dare to speak up your mind, so that life becomes smooth and seamlessly free-flowing. Fashions change. People change. Everything passes. Familiar doors close and new doors open. Opportunity knocks, and circle of life goes on. Life moves on.
