The new smartphone effect will likely fizzle out in the fourth quarter, as people don't find Samsung's new Note model, which came out several months ago, very attractive anymore, that will result in a drop in shipments and eventually less profit.

With its foldable smartphone that no other competitors have yet launched, Samsung will likely lead the high-end smartphone market as it would mass produce foldable smartphones next year, also, a growing number of data center customers are ordering more memory chips ... possibly slowing down the drop in prices.

SK Hynix' first-quarter shipments fell much steeper than previous company guidance, which seems to have fanned concerns about slowing mobile demand.

DRAM chip prices appear to be turning around now, rather than later in the year as we expected.

The conservative comments from Samsung and Hynix indicate chip supplies would not grow significantly, which should help improve the supply-demand balance.
