How can we in good conscience allow for a situation in which the Republican Party can debate and pass voter suppression laws at the state level with only a simple majority vote, but not allow the United States Senate to do the same? we will confront this sobering question and every member will go on record.

We intend to be reasonable, but we don’t intend to abandon our priorities just as our Republican friends don’t want to abandon theirs. We have some leverage.

We’ll need new legislation to account for the Republicans’ latest attempt to undermine our health care system.

Under this law, if Wyoming or Alabama said any person could carry a concealed gun, they could come to Times Square, Penn Station carrying that gun -- concealed, the chaos that would result would be utterly amazing.

To lavish them (corporations) with huge tax breaks and ask the middle class to bear the cost—that’s about as backward as it gets.

We believe we ’ll get it in the omnibus( spending) bill because both House Republicans and Democrats want it, if DACA is in the bill,( President Trump) wo n’t veto it.

The bottom line is, the president listened to the arguments, we think we made a very reasonable and strong argument. And, to his credit, he went with the better argument.

Rather than writing a partisan bill that will benefit the wealthy and special interests, they should commit to working with Democrats, through regular order, to craft a bill in the light of day that puts the middle class and those struggling to make it first.
