We had a mother from Leon County, and her daughter was going to school and some people in the school had decided that the daughter was really a boy and not a girl. So they changed the girl's name to a boy's name, had her dress like a boy and on doing all this stuff, without telling the mother or getting consent from the mother. First of all, they shouldn't be doing that at all. But to do these things behind the parents' back and to say that the parents should be shut out. That is wrong.

Disney has alienated a lot of people now, and so the political influence they're used to wielding, I think has dissipated. And so the question is, why would you want to have special privileges in the law at all ? And I don't think that that we should.

So, here is I think why this statement was totally outrageous, for two reasons. One, they said it should have never been passed in the first place. I talked to our Speaker of the House after that statement came out ; he said they never contacted him while they were working -- while it was moving through the House of Representatives in Florida. They didn't say anything about it.

If the people who held up degenerates like Harvey Weinstein as exemplars and as heroes and as all that, if those are the types of people that are opposing us on parents ’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor.

In Florida, we not only know that parents have a right to be involved, we insist that parents have a right to be involved.

It's not something grounded in any science, if you have somebody sitting in the window seat, and they're nibbling on peanuts for 2 ½ hours, they have their mask down.

They don't want to admit that they support a lot of the things that we're providing protections against, for example, they support sexualizing kids in kindergarten. They support injecting woke gender ideology into second grade classrooms. … And so what they're doing with these slogans and these narratives is they are trying to camouflage their true intentions.

Parents want education for their kids. They're not interested in indoctrination through the school system.

If you look at what the NCAA has done in allowing basically men to compete in women’s athletics, and in this case swimming … you had the number one woman who finished was from Sarasota, Emma Weyent. She won the silver medal, she’s been an absolute superstar her whole career.

I think people need to get out of their bubble and actually talk to parents in this state, because they do not want this in kindergarten or first grade or second grade.

To provide protections for parents, for preschoolers, kindergarteners, first graders, I mean that is something, I think, most parents would appreciate, and we send the kids to school -- young kids -- and we want them to learn the basics. Some of these issues that are just simply not age-appropriate, I think parents want to see protection for that.
