I want to let the Ukrainian refugees know the American people stand with them against Putin’s evil, i will continue to urge this administration to send more lethal assistance to the brave Ukrainian people fighting for their freedom.

I think this all started... with Afghanistan, and the unconditional surrender to the Taliban when he saw weakness. Weakness invited aggression, we're seen as weak right now... because of President Biden.

Weakness does indeed invite aggression, this national security threat is the worst I've seen in my lifetime.

But the fact is, if Russia President Vladimir does invade Ukraine, what is the United States, what is our commander-in-chief prepared to do to stop it ?

Providing these exemptions under the guise of ‘humanitarian aid,' and without any prior consultation with Congress, further undermines bipartisan support and faith in the administration’s transparency and decision-making, i remain deeply frustrated that the administration still can’t confirm what assistance programs have been restarted. This committee must be permitted to conduct oversight of foreign assistance resources and priorities.

It does fundamentally change how the system operates, it's just law enforcement that has that right. This gives that right to the victims' families so they can petition the government to reopen the case, and it would be done by a cold case unit [within] the DOJ with federal investigators.

I remember at the time how shocking it was because I think Austin, at that time, was still a relatively small town in Texas that kind of lost its innocence on that day, this brutal murder of four teenage girls, and the way it was done … that may happen in other cities, but not Austin. It was very shocking, and it still is 30 years later, and part of it is because the families never got a resolution to the case.

As the entire House Foreign Affairs Committee saw in this week’s hearing, Secretary Blinken struggled to defend the haphazard decisions that he and President Biden made that led to the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. This week I announced that Committee Republicans hired an investigator to join our team as we look into this systemic failure, and I hope that we are able to work together to come to an accurate conclusion and determine how this absolute tragedy could have been avoided.

We are dark in Afghanistan and we are also dark when it comes to Russia, China and Iran.

As Mike said, they are the most heavily armed terrorist organization in the world now.

I think he almost got caught up in that assignment, that he was going to be successful, he was going to get this deal cut, he was going to make a difference.
