I take music really seriously. I haven't been doing this for too long, but I've been loving music for a long time. It wasn't really about other artists. I just wanted to do something more for me. I wanted to make a better life for my mom. I didn't have any way to take care of her, and I wanted to make a better way. Music was an outlet, so I went with it, and there you go.

I just work. I'm doing shows, and I get love everywhere I go, so I would say I'm doing something right. I don't really sit here and dwell on it. I just do what I gotta do, and keep moving.

There are things in life that I enjoyed before music, so I'm just taking advantage of those things now that I can.

I'm imperfect. There are things in time that will bother me, but I don't dwell on them. It's another thing to dwell on it your whole day and let it bother you.

I honestly can tell you that no one was really talking about it at all ... that's sadder to me. Like I said, I'm not taking away from the point that I do, that is a very terrible thing that happened in Paris and I do care, [But] If we as a whole joined together like we're doing now for Paris on all the subjects that ... in my personal opinion should matter, we'll be in a better place.

I know that I'm desensitized to certain things and it's not on purpose. It's just because I'm imperfect as a human just like anyone else. But I feel like when you have that light bulb going off in your head, use your voice, use your platform for something that matters.

I would rather you didn't even book me for the shows. I'm not no hired monkey, just don't be cool with me. Don't talk to me. If you feel that way about me that you would want to hang me from a tree then don't talk to me. I would stay away from you because obviously my skin color offends your life.

That word needs to die, with that being said, I don't believe that Mom B. has hatred in her heart. I was there with her for four years. She took great care of me... she cared about me, she cares about my family. She had pictures of me, my wife, my children on the entryway table in that house. Mom B means a lot to me.
