I think( if) the President decided he was going to pardon himself, I think that's almost self-executing impeachment, whether or not there is a minor legal argument that some law professor somewhere in a legal journal can make that the President can pardon, that's not what the framers could have intended. I don't see what the privilege is here that prevents him from providing information that is lawfully and appropriately subpoenaed by these three different committees, rudy Giuliani and others in support of the President have gone on television day after day after day saying as the thrust of their argument here that the whistleblower relies on hearsay information, second hand information.

The idea that it is OK, separate and apart from it being a criminal offense, that we should be telling future candidates in the run-up to an election in 2020 that if an adversary, a foreign adversary, is offering information against a political opponent, that it's okay and right and proper and American and patriotic, it seems he's saying, to take that information and that's okay -- that's an extraordinary statement and I would hope he would retract it.

It's the kind of thing you see in environments in which people do bad things but they don't want to be on the hook and on the record as asking someone to do a bad thing. It happens all the time.

He's a kind of a person who doesn't understand that rules have to operate in a particular way and regular order needs to be followed whether it is recusal or arms length distance between a United States attorney or investigator and the President of the United States.

This is another piece in the puzzle to someone trying to put together a picture of attempted obstruction.
