I think it's a testament to kind of the breadth of support for this effort, it's true that there were big-money donors who got involved toward the end.

The city of San Francisco has risen up and said this is not acceptable to put our kids last, talk is not going to educate our children, it’s action. It’s not about symbolic action, it’s not about changing the name on a school, it is about helping kids inside the school building read and learn math.

It comes down to incompetence, the message we want to send is, if you don't do the job you are elected do — your primary responsibility is to educate our children — you're fired.
