I am happy that Germany has become a country that many people outside of Germany now associate with hope, this is something to cherish when you look back at our history.

What isn't acceptable in my view is that some people are saying this has nothing to do with them, this won't work in the long run. There will be consequences although we don't want that.

The asylum issue could be the next big project where we show whether we're capable of working together.

There is no tolerance for those people who question the dignity of others, no tolerance for those who are not willing to help where legal and human help is required, the more people who make that clear ... the stronger we will be.
