This time around, I just want to be able to help some of the younger guys, just being able to help them just kind of stay in their relaxed zone, not get worked up because it is the Olympics.

I do understand that I have to swim faster to have a chance to win the gold medal, i've trusted that man since I was 11 years old, and it's not going to stop.

I feel older, my muscles aren't the same, they hurt a lot worse this morning but this is the grind time for me over the next couple of days, just try to get as much rest as I can and recover the best I can.

I didn't feel good the first two swims, didn't really feel good tonight but getting on the team was the most important thing and that was the only thing I had to do tonight, i tried to take it out and just prayed to God I was going to be able to hang on.

I've been in the sport a long time and just being able to finish how I want to is so important to me and getting on this team is what I wanted to do.

I was like, 'Wow, I'm the only 30-year-old swimming in this event', that's awesome, and in two days I will be 31.

I think for us being as strong of a swimming country as we are, I think there's probably more pressure at Trials than the Games, we have almost 2,000 people here, and a maximum of 52 will make the team, so it's a pretty small chance.

This is my last chance to do it (right) and I want to do it the way I should have done it in 2012, i think if I were to look back 20 years later at London, I would have been disappointed in myself, that I let myself down for how I prepared.

It was really hard to keep motivated going into 2012 and it is the exact opposite now. I feel like a kid again, I am happy doing what I'm doing.

When I say this is my last one, this is my last one, if I go to Rio and don't final, I'm probably going to be a little pissed, but that's what I had. I think I'll be able to accept it.

We haven't really seen much progression in this event over the last couple of years, i came into tonight wanting to do 1:57 and I did it. I'm not sure what's going to happen over the next year, but I'm just happy to do that( 1:57) because I think it's going to help me a lot in the 100.

It’s just frustrating not setting Michael Phelps up like I should have, what I want most is to be racing the competition I need to be racing. I want to race Ryan and those guys. It’s frustrating falling short.

For me to ever want to really compete at that race, I would make sure that I was in the best shape possible, i know what I have to do to be able to get there.
