I am not going to be part of blowing up this Senate of ours or basically this democracy of ours or the republic that we have, if we have a 51-vote threshold in the Senate, the same as the House--the House wasn't designed to be partisan.

The reason I say it's a heavy lift is once United States change a rule or United States have a carve out -- I've always said this -- anytime there's a carve out, United States eat the whole turkey. There's nothing left because it comes back and forth.

I gave Schumer exactly the philosophical beliefs and the amount of money that I thought we could raise and pay for everything. And so they've had that from day one, the same bill I have in front of me right now that they kept putting in front of me, was the same $6 trillion bill from the beginning. The only thing that changed was the time element which would pay for things.

I would like to hope that there's still Democrats that feel like I do. I said I'm fiscally responsible and socially compassionate. Now, if there's no Democrats like that, then they'll have to push me wherever they want me.

My Democratic colleagues in Washington are determined to dramatically reshape our society in a way that leaves our country even more vulnerable to the threats we face, i cannot take that risk.
