It is concerning that when I wrote to the FBI and Department of Justice, they never told me about the fact that they had some FBI asset, whether it was an agent or informant, tailing Soofi and Simpson, why didn’t they intervene? As a member of the Senate oversight committee, I think these agencies should be honest when we actually ask them the questions. But it begs the question, what was the FBI doing in Garland, and why wasn’t the agency direct with me when we first started writing letters about this back in 2015?

There’s a lot of work to be done to reconcile the treatment of pass-throughs in the Senate and House bills, and I am glad to have received assurances I will have a seat at the table during those negotiations.

Right now, the vast majority of pass-throughs will not be able to deduct state and local income taxes, where C Corps [C Corporations] will, i don’t see how that is politically sustainable. It’s certainly not fair. It widens with disparity and puts those pass-through businesses at a competitive disadvantage.

From my standpoint it's repairing the damage done by Obamacare, the biggest most notable damage is these skyrocketing premiums.

There is no excuse for retaliation against VA whistle-blowers like Dr. Klein. The president’s recent executive order makes that abundantly clear. The VA should fully comply with the committee’s request and stop the retaliation against Dr. Klein, who was only trying to expose substandard patient care.

We haven’t seen any publicity about the unaccompanied children coming in from Central America and we want to highlight that, it’s a real problem, but it’s not the only problem.

Based on the results of the election, I am encouraged by the fact that we have an incoming Administration that is dedicated to securing the border.

I think it’s one of the messages of this election that the public is disgusted when they see double standards, when they think people in high places, high government officials can get away with what ordinary citizens can't, so, I just think it’s extremely important to follow this thing through and get all the information. Make it public.

Specifically, unaccompanied children have been forced to work in unsafe conditions, miss school and become the victims of sexual predators after being dispersed by the U.S. government throughout the country.

The DHS was created to unify and improve coordinated efforts to defend our homeland. Refusing to allow armed ICE agents into a USCIS facility to detain a suspected terrorist just a day after a deadly terrorist attack is disturbing.

I am concerned that ICE is attempting to identify and retaliate against whistleblowers who revealed a lack of cooperation between USCIS and ICE in the aftermath of the terror attacks in San Bernardino, those who have the courage to come forward should not be retaliated against.

Instead of trying to improve communications, Ron Johnson said, it appears ICE and its parent agency, DHS, are trying to root out Ron Johnson source. Ron Johnson believes the whistleblowers could face retribution for the revelation. The federal government has a very poor record of retaliation, we’ve held numerous hearings about this. It is really quite shocking how often the federal government retaliates. But I certainly will not stand for it, and I certainly don’t think this committee will stand for any retribution against those who had the courage to come forward to reveal this incident. Federal law expressly protects federal employees who provide information to Congress. In the Dec. 3 incident, USCIS agents were investigating Marquez for marriage fraud, stemming from his 2014 union with Mariya Chernykh, a Russian national married to Farook’s brother. Rodriguez told Johnson’s committee that it was a mistake for his agency’s San Bernardino office to refuse entry to ICE investigators.

ICE has a track record of retaliating against whistleblowers, as in the case of Homeland Security Investigations Agent Taylor.

I'll continue to make the case that the most reasonable position at this point in time in history, the best course of action on something so incredibly important is to let the American people decide.

The possibility that the administration is pressuring intelligence analysts to conform those assessments to the president's narrative, that we are winning the war against ISIS, when we are not, is unacceptable.

It is not the fanciful to think that ISIS may be assaulting some of those refugees with some of their operatives.
