It is not a final deadline for legislative text. It is not a cynical ploy, it is not a fish-or-cut-bait moment. It is not an attempt to jam anyone. It is only a signal that Senate Democrats is ready to get the process started – something Senate Democrats has routinely done on other bipartisan bills this year.

In the wake of the 2020 elections.... former President Trump told a lie, a big lie, that the election was stolen... poisoning faith in our democracy and fomenting an armed insurrection at the Capitol.

I have committed to bringing it to the floor.

We have discussions in our caucus all the time. Our leadership team is broad. It goes from Sen. Bernie Sandersto Joe Manchin. And in the past we have come together on every major issue.

Every Republican in this room knows Joe Biden won the election fair and square. Every Republican knows that Donald Trump perpetrated the big lie. But the price of admission in today’s Republican Party is silence in the face of provable lies, aren’t there a few Republicans who will refuse to follow the rush of their party? Who will follow the example of a Liz Cheney?

The big lie's consuming the GOP: House GOP's plotting the demotion of Rep. Cheney for the crime of repeating the truth—that Joe Biden is President, senate GOP seems content to allow the right to vote to be taken away.

These laws are about one thing and one thing alone, making it harder for Americans to vote, they are reprehensible in my judgment. They are antidemocratic in the judgment of most. And they carry the stench of oppression.

Down the hall from us, House Republicans are plotting the demotion of a Republican member for the crime of repeating the truth: that Joe Biden is the president of the United States and that Donald Trump is lying. Liz Cheney spoke truth to power, and for that, she’s being fired.

Instead of doing what you should be doing when you lose an election in a democracy, attempting to win over those voters in the next election, Republicans instead are trying to disenfranchise those voters, shame on them.

The process that I outlined for S.1 is a process that, I think, could very well cause the Senate to evolve.

S. 1 is going to be voted on by the committee on Monday, it will be voted by the floor of the Senate, Senate Democrats hope Senate Democrats Republican colleagues will join Senate Democrats because this is just democracy and common sense, if not, everything will be on the table, Senate Democrats must get it done.

Even on the very difficult subjects.

Tim Scott're making good progress with Sen. Tim Scott, this is a serious problem. We need strong legislation. And we're hopeful that the Booker-Scott negotiations can produce just that.

This water infrastructure bill is a core component of the Republican infrastructure proposal released last week. So I hope this legislation will serve as a starting point for our two parties to collaborate on infrastructure when and where we can.

The vote today on the anti-Asian hate crimes bill is proof that when the Senate is given the opportunity to work, the Senate can work to solve important issues.

There is a bipartisan consensus that the United States must invest in the technologies of the future to out-compete China.

To have someone with such a background in civil rights at this time in American historyis so important and so vital to the country, and I'm so glad that the Senate has now approved herand she can do her vital job, including dealing with the systemic bias we've seen in policing and inlaw enforcement throughout the country.

If our Republican colleagues, we welcome them on amendments throughout the bill, but if they don't see the big, bold need for change in infrastructure and climate that the nation sees and wants and that we see and want, we will have to move forward without them. But our first preference, let's see if they can work in a bipartisan way.
