We should show Washington how we do it in North Dakota. I'm running to stop the over-regulating of our economy and start growing it.

Congressman Berg will repeatedly talk about Harry Reid and Barack Obama, and I find it interesting, because this morning, when I woke up and brushed my teeth, I looked in the mirror and I did not see a tall, African-American, skinny man. So let's make it clear that my priorities are North Dakota priorities.

We can only imagine what would happen to our health care and to the quality of our health care here in North Dakota if we took the federal government out of health care.

The President remains popular in North Dakota, i think that North Dakota makes sense because a lot of the agenda items that The President's pursued, especially on deregulation have been incredibly popular. Those are things I share with The President.

I reminded them this is what I do. I don't take shortcuts, i've taken some tough votes in the Senate. I've taken some tough votes that Democrats haven't liked in the Senate. I've taken some votes that Republicans haven't liked, but at the end of Election Day, you have an obligation to do the right thing as you see it, and I think that's what's missing maybe a little bit in politics today.

People would say that,' well it's tougher right now.' I don't know that that's true. I still think I have to make the case for what I'm going to do, what's different this time is I have a record and some of the votes I've taken.

I think that what's happened is the perception of The Democratic Party has changed that they have gone way too far to the left, and people don't trust that.

I saw somebody who was very angry, who was very nervous, and I saw rage that a lot of people said,' well of course you're going to see rage he's being falsely accused,' but it is at all times you're to acquit yourself with a demeanor that's becoming of Supreme Court.

After meeting her and talking with former leaders in our intelligence community, I have concluded that Gina Haspel meets these standards. I am therefore planning to vote to confirm her as Director of CIA, but this was not an easy decision. Ms. Haspel's involvement in torture is deeply troubling, as my friend and colleague, John McCain, so eloquently reminded us. However, Acting Director Haspel explained to me that the agency should not have employed such tactics in the past and has assured me that it will not do so in the future.

I’ve said before that for decades as a country, we have been far too tolerant and dismissive of past allegations, in recent months, women have been courageously stepping out of the shadows to tell their stories of sexual harassment and abuse. That’s a huge step.
