Judge Kavanaugh is an exceptionally qualified jurist who will be a fair and impartial arbiter of the law and will not legislate from the bench, throughout his tenure, Judge Kavanaugh has served with a high moral standard and demonstrated a clear commitment to faithfully interpreting the Constitution.

I agree in Helsinki Donald Trump was less than clear about that, but Donald Trump came back and said Donald Trump's misspoke and reaffirmed Donald Trump earlier position that, yes, the Russian government had interfered in the election.

[The investigation] has shown there was absolutely no collusion with the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence activity leading up to the election, that’s what I think has got the president so spun up, is because he feels this is an attack on him personally.

I do think that the findings of the Intelligence Committee -- community assessment during the end of the Obama administration provides a road map to what the Russians did, as do the indictment of the 12 Russian GRU intelligence officials. And we’d better wake up.

China has been stealing as much intellectual property as it can and otherwise trying to compromise America's lead when it comes to innovation and technology of our national security technology in particular.

This is not a trade issue. This is a national security issue, it is directed at the most egregious offender of this process, which is China, and I believe it's something that's very important in our national security.

We need to do the hard work to build that consensus because right now we don't have it because obviously some people want to do more -- like Sen. Durbin and Sen. Virginia Democratic Rep. Bobby Scott and some people have some questions about the prison reform bill itself, and we need to address all of that.

What we need to do is elevate everybody's understanding of what China's strategic long-term goals are, and they are to dominate the United States economically and militarily, they've got a very clear strategy for doing that, and we need to wake up to that and make sure we're responding in kind.

I don't think we know exactly what happened, other than some 17-year-old boy that nobody predicted would have done something like this took his father's shotgun and pistol and murdered these poor, poor kids. So, I'm not sure we know what legislation we need to pass, although obviously we need to work hard and find ways to stop things like that from happening.

Of course it has something to do with guns, but it mainly has something to do with who's pulling the trigger and people with mental health and mental health crises, people who can't legally purchase firearms and possess them because they're felons or otherwise have a disqualifying record -- there's a lot of things we need to keep looking at.

It is no coincidence that these shootings mostly happen at public schools or soft targets, and the shooters are usually male teenagers who attended those schools, can we succeed in making our schools a safe place for mothers and fathers to send their children and where they're confident that everything humanly possible is being done to protect them ?

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those injured and killed at Santa Fe School District right outside of Galveston, we all are standing by again and our hearts go out to those who are affected by this terrible tragedy.
