‘On the fourth of August 1944 the SD (Nazi security police), accompanied by three detectives and SS Officer Silberbauer, conducted a raid. They had apparently been well-informed, and forced my colleague with three guns pointed at him to show them the secret quarters, where they arrested both families: eight people. My colleague and myself were also taken away with them.’
