That is a time that has passed, governments have found that under the right circumstances they can get private investment. They don't have to decide whether I'm going to spend money on an airport versus spending money on a hospital versus spending money on education.

Most airports were not built to have people congregate at doors, and every time you stop people, you're interfering with what airports were supposed to be doing. You're trapping people in a line where if something did happen these people would not be able to scatter.

Airports in some countries are under pressure, especially in Egypt, the question becomes did the airline and the airport exercise standard protocols? If they did, then we have a problem. If they didn't, then they have a problem.

In previous years there was a marked divergence in growth between airports located in emerging markets and those in advanced economies. That is, the mature markets of North America and Europe experienced modest growth levels whereas the major emerging economies such as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) posted significant gains year after year, however, Europe and North America have rebounded in 2014, which resulted in a form of convergence in growth rates across the regions.
