Quite honestly I don't think that my actions in following the constitution, in terms of a veto process, in trying to put together a budget that is going to be sustainable, is going to end up being a grounds for recall.

So, it makes perfect sense for me — I couldn't understand why on ANWR( Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), the federal government did not want to develop ANWR because what they could have done was taken their cut of the royalties and put it into a renewable fund.

The state of Alaska is strongly defended by active duty, Guard and Reserve forces.

Protecting the freedom and liberty of National Guard members has fallen on responsible governors, the federal government has no authority to make health decisions for National Guard members who are at work under state authority. I pledge to protect that medical freedom and to challenge the trampling of our state’s rights under the 10th Amendment.

Our state’s Southeast communities need fundamental access, like roads, and the economic and resource development opportunities roads provide. Every Alaskan deserves the chance to work. We have the resources. We just need the opportunity.

A declaration is warranted to get the community back on its feet as soon as possible.

I understand that this budget approach and timing, being so late in the legislative year, caused significant angst among Alaskans, however, certain programs, programs we value, got caught in a budget discussion that went on way too long.
