Since its filing we have consistently maintained that Mr. Restis' suit was meritless. United Against Nuclear Iran is a bi-partisan not-for-profit policy and advocacy organization that will not be silenced by intimidation or threat, through economic and social means and through the exercise of their First Amendment rights, the officers and staff of UANI have acted courageously and patriotically in their efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

It is completely unprecedented, and extremely sad and unfortunate, that the Department of Justiceis --for the first time ever -- isexecuting arrest warrants against U.S. citizens based on criminal complaints of North Korea, and based on the accounts of North Korean witnesses who we know not to be credible, there was no attack, there was no assault, there was no invasion of the embassy.

In due time, we expect to be able to present additional evidence that contradicts the story made up by the North Korean government.

The United States is very grateful to the Government of Italy for its continued assistance in closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

This is hard, it's a difficult ask of the U.S. to make, to say please take these individuals whom the world has branded as terrorists. And frequently we have little to offer them in return, except the continued goodwill of the United States.

We need to have a reliable security partner to hand over a detainee. Contrary to the perception of some, we do not just drop these guys off and say have a nice life.

We have a window in the coming months to work diligently with our friends and allies to reduce substantially and responsibly the detainee population at Guantanamo, as part of the president's policy of closing the facility by the end of his term.
