People are a little nervous because the macro signals are so mixed.

People are a little nervous because the macro signals are so mixed, the weak revenues we've seen on aggregate in the earnings season are obviously a sign of concern. Growth is both tepid and fragile. But profits were better and that says to me that companies have got themselves in better shape.

The market has been beset with worries and actually things are not so bad, although the start of the Q3 results have been messy, there are enough positive signs on earnings growth to keep markets positive. The world is not ending, things are more or less on track.

It's all about caution today, there is concern about the Fed, plus the China data continuing to be weak.

This really has its roots in nervousness that began in the U.S. at the end of last week, shanghai is an artificial market at the moment reliant on government support, and they have thrown the kitchen sink at it in recent weeks. The selling just ratcheted up steadily this morning.

I thought it was going to be a really good knock on the front nine, but a few little errant drives meant the rough got its payback on me today.
