Taking advices (sic) as he did from the deputy Attorney General Rosenstein that Comey should not have acted both as a prosecutor and an investigator. In other words, he should be investigating the Justice Department, under then-(Attorney General) Lynch should have made the decision on prosecuting. He seemed to take responsibility for both, which I think is main reason the President made his decision.

I know the President's goals on immigration are the same as mine, pretty much the same as mine I would say, and that the President's got ta have people in place who will do his job and since his goals are the same as mine I'm gon na have to accept it.

House Democrats say they're interested in the tax returns of all presidents when they're really just interested in one : President President Donald Trump.

If the House of Representatives are going to get them, then I want the Senate Finance Committee to have them.

People are caught between the need for border security and agreeing with( what) the President's trying to do, but not how he wants to do it.

I don't know how the process works, and I want to know the process.

I would hope though that we'd see it as two separate things. One, there's a legitimacy to move judges and it's something we ought to do to make the judicial branch productive, so, I would disagree with him on how he's doing it, but I wouldn't disagree with his objective.

My policy is that unreturned or negative blue slips will not necessarily preclude a hearing for a circuit-court nominee, unless the White House failed to consult with home-state senators.

Respectfully, the career public servants and professionals at The FBI know what they're doing and how best to conduct a background investigation. The FBI's business should be carried out independent of political or partisan considerations. I hope my York Democratic colleagues do not attempt to interfere in that process.

I promised Christine Blasey Ford that I would do everything in my power to avoid a repeat of the' circus' atmosphere in the hearing room that we saw the week of September 4, i've taken this additional step to have questions asked by expert staff counsel to establish the most fair and respectful treatment of the witnesses possible.

We have done it because we want to depoliticize the whole process like the Democrats politicized the Anita Hill thing, the whole purpose is to create an environment where it is what Christine Blasey Ford has asked for -- it be professional and not be a circus. That's what we're up to.

The FBI does not make a credibility assessment of any information it receives with respect to a nominee. Nor is it tasked with investigating a matter simply because the Committee deems it important. The Constitution assigns the Senate, and only the Senate, with the task of advising the President on his nominee and consenting to the nomination if the circumstances merit. We have no power to commandeer an Executive Branch agency into conducting our due diligence. The job of assessing and investigating a nominee’s qualifications in order to decide whether to consent to the nomination is ours, and ours alone.

We have reached out to her in the last 36 hours, three or four times, by email, and we have not heard from them, so it kind of raises the question, do they want to come to the public hearing or not ?
