The important piece about the study is that it incorporates the patient's family's voice, all too often, services are developed without the perspective of patients and their families. I think it’s a vital piece and a piece that we have n’t heard much of.

There is beauty in that diversity.

At the end of the day it’s about how we help people, whether or not they’re on the spectrum, lead happy fulfilling lives.

The goal is for the children to be able to live without secrecy and affirmed in their identity, regardless of the environment, when children are n’t allowed to socially transition, especially at home, we would expect a negative impact on mental health.

Puberty blockers allow those changes to be put on hold and gives kids and families time to think through the consequences, benefits and alternatives of their choices and options.

We have a responsibility as physicians caring for these children to know a way around the insurance appeals process to know the legal routes we have available to us.
