This bill is dangerous. This bill tells kids and educators that if they are gay or come out or come from an LGBTQ + family that they better not saying anything about it. They better not let anyone find out or we'll out you and put you in harm's way.

We want domestic violence survivors to trust law enforcement, and to feel comfortable reporting a crime.

Attacks are being aimed at every community you care about, from Black and brown people to LGBTQ + folks. We're also seeing attacks on immigrants. the concern a lot of Florida Democrats have is whatever happens in Florida, it does spread to other states.

It's clear based on the rhetoric, based on who supports them, based on the intention of those who have supported these bills that the goal is to erase LGBTQ + people, it's to erase conversations on Black history, on parts of America's past that are unsavory but are important for us to acknowledge so that we don't repeat them.

You know, I represent Pulse Nightclub in my district. Every day we have young people who ask questions about what happened at Pulse, who was impacted by Pulse. It's so important that we can have these conversations and talk about every type of family within our schools.

They didn't even want to hear it, these are the same Republicans who say they want small government and let people decide for themselves. But not only are you incentivizing policies that are anti-public health, but you're rewarding them for it. You should be incentivizing people to make good decisions.

It intimidates organizations and volunteers from even trying to do registration because if you do it wrong you could get in trouble.

This exemption for companies that own theme parks is an example of the loophole in this bill, this bill is really political in nature. It’s not about trying to impact the concerns of deplatforming. Now it’s catering to a specific company.

There should be robo-dialing, there should be door knocking. We should be going into communities, people feel it’s like a gameshow, like a race and it should n’t be like that. It should be a more thoughtful and strategic approach that is centralized.

At the end of the day it is smart for us to look at these types of institutions that might already have some of the vaccination structure in place.
