This was a difficult, personal choice and I do not wish for it to impact the decision of any other athlete heading to the Games, i am very proud to have competed for Tennis Canada at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, and on the world stage at several Davis Cup events. I look forward to cheering on Tennis Canada this summer.

On how he met Wayne Gretzky: I was in L.A. preparing for Indian Wells, and a mutual friend asked if I'd like to have dinner with him. I think one of his daughters plays tennis so he knew about me. It was obviously something I was excited to do, and I left the dinner pretty amazed.

He came up with the goods and definitely pushed me to the brink there where I was getting a little bit frustrated, i think I created a lot of chances and a few maybe I didn't take the way I would have liked but he also stepped up well on his chances.

I don't think we're going to have many consecutive opportunities on each other's serves, i think we're sort of both playing with the same type of fire. It's about who can sort of temper the other guy's better.

I just have to take the game to him. I have to make him feel uncomfortable. Not let him get into his sort of playing comfort. If I can sort of keep up with the efficiency moving forward, I'll have definitely some opportunities.

It was a great tennis match. I stayed out there, competed, gave it my all. I gave Milos Raonic a chance after being down a set and a break, i think it just shows the development I've been able to make over the last little while. You put me in that same situation a few months and weeks ago and I think I could be out of that stadium pretty quickly.

It's great to see because you know how much Roger Federer 1,000's done for tennis, the fans Roger Federer 1,000's brought, the media attention Roger Federer 1,000's brought, if Roger Federer 1,000 is if not one of the most popular athletes now in the world, Roger Federer 1,000's definitely the most popular tennis player of all time.

I feel like I've made a big mental step forward, in 2012, I believe I started the year winning Chennai. That was a great feeling, but I didn't feel like I was producing the same level.

Now we are in the semi-finals of a tournament, everybody that's in that stage is already playing pretty well. They've gotten some matches behind them. Now it just comes down to stepping up.

The first three years, I don't think I would leave my hotel room outside of tennis, because I was like, 'I got to rest, I got to rest.' It was like sort of a paranoia to do everything as best as I can.

One time, I got to go play with lion cubs in Johannesburg. It was amazing. But it's difficult when you're on the road. We're always playing tennis, and there's a lot of pressure. So sometimes you don't get to do the things you'd like to do, because the priority is tennis.

It's important to me to defend the Canadian colours. And I don't just do it in tennis. I might now follow hockey as much as the average Canadian, but I support several Canadian teams. I'm a big fan of the Toronto Raptors. On top of that, I love my country, simple as that. It's a magnificent country; the people are really welcoming.
