Too many people still believe the opioid crisis is abstract and will not impact them. Many still do not see it as a major threat to them or their family, these data show the gravity of the crisis. We have known for some time that opioid overdose is an everyday killer, and these odds illustrate that in a very jarring way.

We can't see a safety benefit to having people play Jeopardy on the road through an app, we shouldn't be encouraging drivers to do anything behind the wheel that could impede their ability to drive.

We know that countries have far, far lower crash rates than we do, and they're doing some very simple things that we could do to get to zero, our complacency kills us in the United States. We just have not had the stomach to do all of the things that we need to do, and if 40,000 deaths last year isn't our wake-up call, then what will be?

That's a serious disconnect. Every time you see somebody using a telephone behind the wheel, whether that's texting or talking, you need to be able to pull them over right away and ticket them for it.
