The news today is fantastic. It gives us a new tool in our toolbox against Ebola, but it will not in itself stop Ebola.

The virus spreads along social networks, family networks. And identifying those social networks and ensuring that both contacts and contacts of those contacts are vaccinated is a highly effective strategy.

We believe, let me be very cautious here, we believe we are probably detecting in excess of 75% of cases - we may be missing up to a quarter of cases, we must get earlier detection of cases, have more exhaustive identification of contacts.

Transmission within the healthcare setting has been a major factor driving this outbreak, unfortunately, women and children have been the unwitting victims of that reality.

Every time we have managed to regain control over the virus and contain its spread, we have suffered major, major security events, we are anticipating a scenario of continued intense transmission.

It's quite a focused amplification of disease in a very specific geographic area, but the disease there has risen because of lack of access to that community, we've fallen behind in starting vaccination rings.

We seem to be very much caught in the headlines that there is nothing we can do, it's inevitable that we will going to see these waves and it's inevitable that hospitals will fill up and inevitable that the graveyards are going to fill up, it's not inevitable, it can be stopped, but it's going to take yet another effort from communities that are exhausted.

I'm always very afraid in any process where the conclusions start looking for the evidence to support them, and we're dealing with a lot of that in the last few days around her, the difficulty, I think -- and I think we have to say this quite plainly -- all hypotheses are on the table, and it is definitely too early to come to a conclusion of exactly where this virus started either within or without China.
