If there are issues regarding particular laws, they will be raised in the normal way that they should be in a democracy, and they are matters I am always open to discuss.

It may have been a surprise to others but it certainly wasn't a surprise to the government, australian naval vessels have visited China. This was a program of a reciprocal visit. That is a further demonstration of the relationship that we have.
