I can't believe it. Two years ago I was here as a visitor of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and he invited me to come and stay in his motor home. That's the only other time I've been to victory lane.

There's no other place I'd rather have it than here in Mexico. It's a race track that I was looking forward to going to from the time we were here last year. This track just fits my driving style perfectly.

The Showdown is a great way to bring attention to these historic Virginia tracks where many NASCAR drivers cut their teeth in stock car racing, including myself. Tracks like South Boston and Langley are the heart of the sport and draw a great crowd to our Showdown events.

I can spend the hour before the race cracking up with all my friends and joking around, but as soon as I get around that race car, I completely change. The focus changes. The competitive juices get flowing.

I can assure you that most of the drivers have a lot of things they'd like to do, but racing keeps them from doing that. We're so restricted because of our long season. We have a one-and-a-half-month period where we get to do what we want - that's shorter than any other sport. It makes it tough, for sure.

I think I knew thats who we were going to be racing when it was all said and done, the 19 just had such a strong car here on the long run over the last few years, we knew that was going to be the one to beat. ... Great team day overall. Great points day for us.

It was just one of those days where I felt like it was meant to be, this one is for J.D. We're desperately going to miss him the rest of our lives. His legacy still lives on through Joe Gibbs Racing and I'm proud to do this for them.

I know NASCAR sat down all the crew chiefs last year in Phoenix and told them to stop doing it, my guess is that if they said stop then they've seen something.

It's a shame because we just had our driver lineup right where we wanted it with the four of us, you definitely miss (Busch's) feedback. Until the fourth car came this year, (Busch) was 33 percent of the information that went through that race team and it's just a little different there without him for sure.

He's somewhat chatty through the texts that we have. He's definitely paying a lot of attention to the races and what he sees from the outside, i think he's very engaged and obviously making the best of the situation that he's got.
