We've been focused for a long time on the physical consequences of war. More recently, the mental consequences of war, and now we are focused on these chemical substances that come into the lives of our men and women who serve our nation.

In a domain as competitive as space, each month that passes is imperative as we are actively working together -- government and industry -- to ensure the United States remains a leader in the space arena, our adversaries are not resting, and neither should we.

Given [Thursday's] horrific events and now predictions of further difficult days ahead, I need answers immediately to my questions. The planning to care for our veterans must not replicate the disastrous lack of planning connected with our withdrawal from Afghanistan, it is our duty to honor the service and sacrifice of all those who responded to the attacks on our country since 9/11, including those who lost their lives this week. I will remain in close contact with VA’s mental health and suicide prevention program office and work to make certain they have every resource in place to meet the needs of our veterans in crisis.

I'm not there yet, i'm still interested in working to see if we can find a quality, bipartisan infrastructure plan. I want to be involved in that engagement and effort. But I'm still troubled by the statements of Speaker Pelosi. ... It doesn't seem the right kind of negotiating tactic to say,' Yeah, I'll support a bipartisan plan, only as long as I get a vote on everything else I want.'.

There is great importance at VA of having someone who has management capabilities, and certainly someday can carry weigh in the administration.
