I don't think you should ever run from history. You should learn from it and embrace it.

The thing a player has to ask himself: 'Do you want to choose winning over standing out?' Dwyane Wade made that choice, and I don't think he gets enough credit.

As a coach, you've got to do what's best for the team. If guys don't like it, they're going to leave. If they stay and don't like it, well, your team's going to suck anyway. Even if this happens, you still have to do it. You can't coach worrying about any individual.

You've got to coach worrying about your entire team: whether that gets you a championship or whether that gets you fired. I think it allows you to coach free. You're coaching with freedom because you know you're doing what you think is right.

I love Courtney Lee. He's a very good player. I know that sounds very simple, but it's true. He does things well. He's a good defender, a great team defender, and he shoots the ball very well.

Ben did a lot of good things here, it didn’t end well, right, just like marriages and all kinds of other things don’t end well, right? But Ben did a lot of good things here.

He’s playing well, man, i’m happy for him because last year, last couple years he’d struggled and he came to us and I thought we really got his motor going again. Now you’re watching him, he’s still doing it, so really happy for him.

He had great shots, listen, we’re in the wins business. We’re not trying to keep everybody happy, because if that’s true then we’d be in the loss business.

His conditioning, last year, when I came in, we challenged him and he took it, this year, we challenged him even more and he’s taking it up.

I loved it until Vinny Del Negro got the guy on fire and then they would tell me to go stop him, we used to call him Vinny Kerosene some nights because I would go in and go, ‘The guy’s on fire. I’ve got to guard him?’ We would laugh about it.

I know they’re feeling great, this thing, as everybody knows, is individual. Some guys have struggled with it and some guys haven’t.

A lot of frustration (among coaches), there were a few guys who were actually feeling poorly, and then there were a lot who were like, ‘I feel great,’ and they were frustrated they couldn’t get out there.

We have to do something because at this rate I’m scared to turn on ESPN right now. Just, more guys are out.

We want to be the team with the least (cases), we lead still, I think, in COVID games off. That one stretch was brutal for us and now other teams are going through it. So it’s no fun.

At some point we're going to catch a stretch when we're healthy.

He's just so good, so just trying to wear him out as much as you could.

I can tell you up front, we would love to get Ben back, and if we can, we’re going to try to do that, ben has a long contract, so it’s in our hands and we want him back.
