Winning today was totally different from my other victories because this is the first time I have won an all-around gold after winning the team title, so that I why I was so happy after the competition today.

Four years ago, I felt the importance of the Olympics and how it is different from other events. It's a completely different atmosphere. The main advice I can give my teammates is to try to enjoy the experience.

A lot of foreign athletes say I perform like a machine. I take that as a compliment, to me, moves and performances that are mechanical are perfect. A robot can be more accurate and exact in movement than a human can every time.

I wanted to win the all-around title without any mistakes so I left out a few difficult elements today, i wanted to produce a perfected performance.

I really wanted to have a perfect routine, so I feel really bad, but I have never won a team competition, and even though it was n’t perfect, we still won the gold medal.

I don't think my natural talent is much different to the other gymnasts. It is a matter of how I train and how I think about my training. I also give a lot of thought to my routines.

Japan had the big earthquake in 2011, and the Olympics will be a good opportunity to bring strength to the people of the Tohoku region - and also to show everyone around the world that Japan is doing fine again. These are messages we have to convey through the power of sport.
