You're always behind the epidemic to some extent, we know people can be infected for several days before symptoms emerge... by the time you get to the stage you realize there's a problem, there's already a lot more [ cases ] in the population.

You may see a skew in the age distribution of cases ; as you get higher levels of vaccination in the elderly, you're more likely to see younger people getting infected, i mean, it's not going to increase the number in that age group to compensate, but it may be that you see an increased proportion.

The danger is relying on the figures and assuming that they give us an accurate count of the total number of people who have been infected.

Unfortunately there is no one metric that enables us to compare situations in different countries.
