The U.S. jobs market remains solid. With a tighter jobs market, more people are looking for work and employers are raising wages, both good news for consumer spending and the overall economy in 2016.

This is a very good report. And it's not just the headline number but the fact that average hourly earnings are up, if I were a Democrat I would be making a lot of hay out of it.

The outlook for manufacturing is modestly positive. Demand from consumers and businesses is growing slowly. Households are gradually boosting their spending on manufactured goods.

I do think we will continue to see economic growth not just through the rest of this year but through the rest of 2016. There aren't those imbalances out there that would raise concerns about a potential recession any time soon, whoever the Democratic nominee is, he or she will be running on the message of: the economy is getting better and let's continue with those policies.

After four years of rocky recovery the U.S. economy is now hitting its stride ... and growth should remain good next year, with lower gasoline prices a big plus for consumers.
