Alzheimer's disease for California, one of the five lowest-rate states, was higher than the rates for Kentucky and West Virginia, two of the five lowest-rate states, california had a higher death rate from diabetes than Alabama. Hawaii had the highest death rate from influenza and pneumonia in the nation.

If you diagnose chronic diseases (such as heart disease) earlier and get proper treatment, those can be controlled or even prevented. Then people with those kinds of diseases could live longer.

Once people get to be so old, the majority, I think, need help for their daily life. So I'm not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing. It is a quality of life issue.
