We're still hopeful that the meeting will take place and we'll continue down that path but at the same time we've been prepared that these could be tough negotiations, the president is ready if the meeting takes place. If it doesn't, we'll continue the maximum pressure campaign that's been ongoing.

The president's fully prepared and fully ready to carry on in these conversations both leading up to and if the meeting takes place, he'll be there and he'll be ready.

I haven't seen that as part of any discussions so I'm not aware that that's a model that we're using.

I think the President is on solid ground here, that if you work at the pleasure of the President, like we all do here and you have the privilege and the blessing of coming every day to work in this White House on behalf of the nation that we all love, then you want to be competent, you want to be loyal and you ought to be able to reinforce the agenda that prevailed here.

This morning, the President had a call with James Shaw Jr. to commend his heroic actions and quick thinking last month at a Waffle House in Tennessee, mr. Shaw saved lives when he wrestled a gun from an active shooter who had open fired.

We respect Senator McCain's service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time.

We are working on something that we think will be great for everybody, china's top economic adviser, the vice premier( Liu He), will be coming here next week to continue the discussions with the president's economic team.
