I think Apple's main use for switching over would be to offer a better product, not necessarily a cheaper product, you may see better value in some cases but I don't think we'll see cheap iMacs or cheap MacBooks going forward.

The main reason it'll take other PC vendors a while to catch up to Apple is because most of them don't control the whole stack of hardware and software, this tight integration between the two is Apple's main advantage.

AMOLED displays are very eye-catching and including them in the new notebooks really helps Samsung set themselves apart from other notebooks in the same price range, they're also a strength for Samsung as the company is one of the largest AMOLED makers out there.

This is the sort of seamless integration that has been promised for years and very few have been able to deliver, by enabling users to focus on the content first rather than the device, Samsung is going to be solving a pain point for many users. I believe this will ultimately bode well the company.

At the end of the day the switch is not going to be successful if it doesn't have the apps, and consumers are not going to love it if they don't have access to their favorite apps, it's not like every developer can switch over right away... My guess is they would have some sort of a bridge solution ready until everyone is ready to port over.

They also get to control their own product launch cadence, in the past, they had to really wait on Intel to launch new processors before they could refresh the Mac lineup.

By simply becoming the default browser on an iPhone, developers like Google could easily gain access to potentially 900 million iPhone users and all their browsing habits on a constant basis, the same would apply to anyone creating a mail app or music app -- and that's important because it could potentially slow the growth for some of Apple's services.

Many consumers prefer Spotify and that could have prevented them from purchasing a HomePod, by allowing Spotify to be the default player on the HomePod, not only can Apple Music gain additional hardware revenue, they could potentially gain more services revenue as users subscribe to Spotify through Apple Music.
