While any chances of a Fed rate hike later today have all but evaporated, the data released this morning undoubtedly support our view that a faster-than-anticipated rise in core inflation will force the Fed to raise interest rates faster than markets expect.

The chances of a Fed rate hike in March remain slim but we still think that the Fed will raise interest rates in June as fears of recession in China and the U.S. ... subside.

The pick-up in core CPI inflation to a three-and-a-half-year high... illustrates that rising domestic price pressures won't allow Cleveland Fed to leave interest rates at near-zero levels for that much longer.
