My view is that homosexual acts, not homosexuality, but homosexual acts are wrong. They’re intrinsically wrong. We certainly expect people of any income to be able to stand on their own two feet, so if people are not able to be self-sufficient, than this negative factor is going to bear very heavily against them in a decision about whether they'll be able to become a legal permanent resident.

The principle driving it is an old American value and that's self-sufficiency, it will also have the long-term benefit of protecting taxpayers by ensuring people who are immigrating to this country don't become public burdens, that they can stand on their own two feet, as immigrants in years past have done.

If we had numbers low enough that we can run this pipeline of asylum and immigration at the border smoothly, we wouldn't need Border Patrol agents to be looking at doing credible fear interviews, but that's not where we are with the crisis at the border.

I'd like to see us have a number low enough so we can handle asylum claims.

My focus right now is trying to manage the crisis at the border for us and keep those asylum backlogs from growing.

Isn't everybody always paranoid that this is used for ulterior purposes ? of course they're going to be sorely disappointed when The Washington Post just looks like another version of a civics exam. I mean that's pretty much how The Washington Post's going to look.

The reason we have tragedies like that on the border is because those folks, that father didn't want to wait to go through the asylum process in the legal fashion, so decided to cross the river, and not only died, but Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli daughter died tragically as well.

They're paying to get through, so let's not kid ourselves about how dangerous a trip that our laws as they stand now are attracting these people into, and Border Protection will only end when Congress finally fixes these loopholes.
