There has been a lot of effort and time taken to understand the technology which will be transferable but this has given us an opportunity to do a lot of work through our medical teams around the management of heat, those findings will probably be more applicable and more profound for us going forward to Tokyo than they will be here.

I wouldn't have raced a horse. But you'll then throw back at me that Jesse Owens raced against a horse and he's one of my heroes so I'm not going to say it was a silly stunt. I know too much about horses. They're highly unreliable and they've got brains the size of golf balls.

We have the AIU (Athletics Integrity Unit), it clearly will take a big interest in the findings from USADA, i am entirely comfortable and very confident that the AIU will want to look at the whole case and want to think about the implications.

The AIU are permanently vigilant and there are tests that are intelligence-led, it is important that the unit is given the opportunity and the time to be vigilant and acts when it needs, but we also have to be protective of athletes' reputations, so it needs a sensible proportion of balance.

Sadly, it is the world we live in, it is inevitable that outstanding performance, given the nature of trust, is permanently in question. I think we have to be careful about how we draw judgement on the performance.

A banned coach has to sever relationships with those athletes. That's what's taking place, coaches and athletes have to make judgments all the time. If you are coached by somebody, you should be absolutely comfortable that you are working in an environment that's safe and secure and is not going to damage you own reputation. An athlete should ask those questions.

They are very pleased to be here, yes, we could have done with more spectators in the stadium but there are pretty understandable reasons why that has been a challenge.

We had a medical facility there which I don't think I've ever seen in any championship, Olympics or world championships, in Seville( 1999), we were dealing with 41 degrees of temperature. I went to Edmonton( 2001), the numbers in the stadium make this look like a first-class problem.

It can't keep going back to the same eight or nine places that we've always sort of focused on in the past, we need to make sure, where we possibly can, we take cost out. Just make it an easier business proposition for a city to want to take us on board.

We have given the opportunity for the athletes to ingest a tablet, it has a thermometer and can allow us to monitor the way they are dealing with heat and humidity, this has given us the opportunity and conditions for our medical teams and science teams to understand a great deal more about management of heat for athletes going forward.

The largest challenge we face is to maintain our sport at the top of the sporting pyramid and to remain exciting and salient for young people.

It is very straightforward for any association in sport, athletics has two classifications - it has age and it has gender. We are fiercely protective of both. We are really grateful that CAS has upheld that principle.
