What you really have is individuals who don't seem to understand the technicalities of the elections process or election security trying to gain access to machines to keep the misinformation alive.

There must be consequences for those who broke the law to undermine our elections in order to advance their own political agendas.

Our election system is secure, and today's charges demonstrate that in the rare circumstances when fraud occurs we catch it and hold the perpetrators accountable.

These charges also send a clear message to those who promote deceitful claims about widespread fraud: the current protocols we have in place work to protect and ensure the integrity of our elections. It's time to share that truth and stop spreading lies to the contrary.

This is the way democracy works, no winner is declared until every ballot is counted, at the same time, we recognize that from the minute the polls close to the minute we do have that final tabulation, there will be efforts to try to sow seeds of doubt among our electorate and others about the sanctity of our vote.

My office has received a recording of a robocall targeting Detroit voters using racially-charged stereotypes and false information to deter voting by mail, it is an unconscionable, indefensible, blatant attempt to lie to citizens about their right to vote.

I think we'll certainly meet that, if not surpass it.
