The damage being done in energy is spreading, just getting up every morning and seeing the S&P futures down 1-2 percent has a near-term psychological impact and puts some investors into risk-off mode.

I don't think there was a specific piece of news driving the market today. We got very oversold, when everybody gets bearish quickly, you tend to get these bounces.

Everybody's just on guard and aware of the potential for greater volatility than we've seen in quite a while. We've seen investors dip their toes and buy high-quality names they like that they can get cheaper.

The current rally is more durable. It is incredibly tough to go public in this market. We just didn't have this kind of scrutiny back in 2000.
